Behind the Design: My Creative Process
By Araceli Zuniga | Digital Designer
Welcome to the first post of my blog! Here, I’ll be taking you behind the scenes of my design work showing you the steps, and strategies I use to bring each project to life.
Whether it’s a logo, a branding package, a photoshoot, or a video edit, every project goes through a thoughtful and creative process. In this post, I’m walking you through one of my logo and branding projects.
Step 1: Research & Inspiration
Before opening any design software, I start with research. I explore the client’s style, market trends, competitors. I also gather mood board inspiration from Pinterest, Behance, and everyday visuals. In this case i needed to do a project for a food truck, growing up we had a restaurant name Raspados Jalisco where we would sell shave ice, I wanted to do a logo that was meaningful to me so I did a shave ice logo. Here i have our 1st logo ever made for us and this is where i start to be creative

Step 2: Sketches & Ideas
I begin sketching out different logo concepts by hand or digitally. This helps me explore a variety of directions without being limited by design tools.

Step 3: Digital Design & Refinement
Once I’ve chosen a few strong ideas, I move into Illustrator or procreate to build the digital versions. I test typefaces, spacing, and color combinations until everything feels align.

Step 4: Final Delivery
After final feedback rounds and refinements, I prepare the final files and style guide. I also make mockups to show how the brand will look in real world applications.

overall this logo brought me back too old times and teaching so many tools and tips when it comes to this creative world, every logo has its meaning.

Why I Love Creating Cinematic Video Edits
There’s something magical about turning everyday moments into cinematic stories. As a digital designer, one of my favorite creative outlets is video editing especially when I get to bring that cinematic touch. For me, editing isn’t just about cutting clips together it’s about creating emotion, mood, and meaning.
When I edit videos, I focus on the details, the lighting, the pacing, the color grading, and the music. These elements come together to create a specific atmosphere whether it’s something dreamy, dramatic, nostalgic, or bold. I love the challenge of taking raw footage and shaping it into something that feels polished and powerful.
My inspiration often comes from films, music videos, and nature. I enjoy experimenting with transitions, sound design, and visual effects to give each video a unique style. It’s like painting with movement and sound.
Whether I’m working on a personal project or something for a client, I always aim to tell a story. Even a short clip can have a huge impact if it’s edited with care. Video editing has taught me patience, precision, and how powerful visual storytelling can be.
Cinematic video edits aren’t just my passion they’re a part of my creative identity. And I’m always exploring new ways to improve and push my style further.
